A new recruit for Life+ Cap DOM

Anna Stier has just joined the team of GEPOG to take responsibility for part of the LIFE+ Cap DOM programme in French Guiana

Anna Stier, Representative in charge of action for the savannahs and for the Agami Heron

"Having finished my studies in biology / ecology / biodiversity in September 2010 and after training in various fields in France, Germany and in tropical / desert countries (Vietnam, Niger), I arrived at the end of April 2011 and since then have been in charge of activities concerning the savannahs and the Agami Heron in the Life+ Cap DOM programme.

These activities pose some interesting biological and ecological questions, as well as trying to make the best use of those activists involved in dealing with the potentially critical links between species and environmental conservation and territorial development.

The Savannahs of French Guiana, A. Stier

The very first stages in launching the savannahs project are just being put in place : meeting the specialist ornithologists and botanists, drawing up the exact scientific questions to be investigated, detailing the approaches on the ground by which these questions can be answered. At the same time meetings with the different members of the steering committee will begin so that the planned programme can be published.
