Christelle Béranger, Martinique

orn in Grenoble, Christelle Beranger has always felt herself drawn to the Island of Flowers. Being of Martinique origins has enabled her to visit the island frequently, and this has awakened in her a desire to protect its natural luxuriance, its biodiversity. She selected her higher studies for this purpose, graduating in environmental studies, and then took a Master in ecology and the management of biodiversity.

Naturally she started putting her work into practice in Martinique, working closely with the local associations. After three years of experience managing environmental and broadly educational projects, and reporting on endangered species, she joined the LPO team, and will be based in Martinique, getting right down to grass roots. Within the Life+ Cap DOM programme, her particular project will be to help in the conservation of the White-breasted Thrasher, endemic to the Lesser Antilles, a project which interests her passionately, and which involves bringing together environmental activists from across the globe.
