Since 2011, teams from SEOR and Reunion National Park, accompanied by the LPO and MNHN, have adapted the Suivi Temporel des Oiseaux Communs (STOC) point count survey for La Réunion, under the Life+ Cap DOM programme. Undertaking this survey allows us, in the long-term, not only to add to our understanding about bird populations but also to indicate the state of the areas’s biodiversity and ecosystems, particularly by evaluating the impacts of human activities and environmental policies. Nicolas Laurent, in charge of this activity at SEOR, tells us more about this tool and the outstanding team activities which it has enabled.
