The European Commission visits French Guiana for the Life+ Cap DOM programme

From the 2nd to the 5th of December, GEPOG, as coordinator of the Life+ Cap DOM programme in French Guiana, welcomed a group from Brussels and from Rochefort who came to inspect the work carried out to date.

The group comprised Anne-France Touveron (Life+ National Coordinator for the LPO, Rochefort), Grégory Garandeau (accounts department for Life+, LPO, Rochefort), Emmanuelle Brunet (Oréade-Brèche consultancy, La Jarrie, which provides technical assistance and evaluation of projects financed by Life+ for the European Commission) and Angelo Salsi (Head of the Life+ Unit at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for the Environment, Brussels).

GEPOG was able to work with them on technical improvements, make some site visits, meet the various partner bodies, and draw up a mid-term statement of finances (and yes, the programme is due to finish in September 2015!).

The visit ended with a meeting about the workings of the finance provided by LIFE, allowing those in French Guiana in search of finance to make direct contact with a potential source of funds.

With thanks to all involved, and looking forward to more news of the programme.
