The Conservatoire du Littoral in Martinique undertakes some new actions to protect the White-breasted Thrasher

After two years of study, the Life+ Dom CAP partners on Martinique have identified several ’hotspots’ for the White-breasted Thrasher, a species both endemic and vulnerable, that is only found on Martinique, and even there only on the Caravelle peninsula. Using this new information, the Conservatoire du Littoral has undertaken a programme of closing certain footpaths which cross the feeding and nesting areas of the thrasher.

This new initiative, agreed by all the project partners, is one of the measures put in place to protect the habitats of the species and to limit any adverse disturbance which might threaten it (from walkers, wood-cutters, …)
